Writing a Pet Tribute - 101
A couple of notes -

1.
It helps to read some of the other tributes before you write yours. There will be one or two that will have bits and pieces of exactly what you want to say. There are many people on these pages who love their pets as much as you do. Everyone is here looking for a little relief to help ease the pain of losing a loved one...or to send kind words to help someone else who is hurting.

2.
Writing a tribute is a very, very emotional task.

If you are writing a tribute for a loved one who has lost a pet, please encourage others to write one, too, for the same pet and be sure to let the owner know that there is a tribute posted in their honor. This seems to be a very healing form of sympathy and is appreciated by the grieving more than you can imagine!

After reading the tributes for a while, I encourage you to write one for yourself. These tributes can really help ease the pain of losing a beloved pet. This website has been online since October 2001 and will be online for many more to come. Griefonline came into existence out of my husband's intense pain over losing his beloved little Molly. I found a similar 'tribute website' online and it only took reading a couple of them before I wrote one for him and sent it in. When it finally got posted, he printed that page and carried it around in his pocket and showed it to everyone...and cried with everyone he showed it to. I am a website developer, artist, animal lover, and loving wife. You can guess the rest. Here is his site.

If someone close to you has lost a pet, I encourage you and others to write a tribute for the pet...but mostly for the bereaved owners...and let them know that there is a tribute posted in their honor. It helps them openly share their sadness. Some people who never share their feelings about anything can open up freely and share their deep sadness over losing a pet. This will mean more to them than you'll ever know. Go look at Molly (the longhair dachshund Molly) You'll see that many, many people reached out to Bobby. It helped him get through his grief more than you'll ever know. And he was grief-stricken.
